Oregon linebacker Kiko Alonso, last seen teaming up with the Ducks' D to turn in a bang-up showing in the 2011 spring game, served a season-long suspension in 2010 for a DUi arrest. Look for him to help out the team in a similar capacity next year, following a weekend arrest for first degree burglary, first degree criminal trespassing, and second degree criminal mischief. SB Nation's Addicted To Quack anticipates Alonso's dismissal, barring a miraculous legal turnaround:
Oregon LB Kiko Alonso Arrested For Burglary
Just six days after George Schroeder wrote that “Alonso’s redemption is worthy of celebration,” this happens. The only way that I can see Alonso staying on the team is if the charges are dropped completely. I doubt the incident will be severe as the charges initially suggest, but Kiko has had his second chance, and I doubt Chip will give him a third.Alonso has been suspended indefinitely by the university, but his future’s looking anything but ducky. Join Addicted To Quack for more on Alonso’s future and the Ducks’ spring game action.
