We all assumed that Game 1 between the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins would be a tight-checking, close contest, with the victor coming out on top by perhaps a goal, maybe two if they were lucky or an empty net factored in the final goal tally.
Bruins Vs. Flyers, Game 2: Philadelphia Needs Big Bounce Back Game To Even Series
But that's the exact opposite of what we saw at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday afternoon, as the Bruins' top line of David Krejci, Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic completely dismantled the Flyers defense to the tune of three goals en route to a 7-3 triumph.
The B’s have the series edge, a sudden grasp on home ice advantage and all the confidence in the world as we enter Monday’s Game 2, but for the Flyers, it’s been all about turning the page and forgetting about a horrible outing to kick off the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
If there's any solace for those in Philly, it's that it'll be hard for the Flyers to play as poorly as they did on Saturday. The defense was completely disjointed, Brian Boucher wasn't good behind them and Peter Laviolette's coaching left much to be desired. The offense did get three goals by Tim Thomas, so that's a positive sign.
If the Flyers can get anything that resembles defense in Game 2, we should have a much more interesting hockey game on our hands. It's Boucher vs. Thomas again, and Chris Pronger is listed as a game-time decision for the game. We'll have live updates from the Wells Fargo Center throughout the evening.
