With the current labor uncertainty, the only football we may experience could be the Madden video game. Every year, EA sports generates a ton of buzz surrounding its successful football franchise. The 30th of August is like a national holiday for many football fans often resulting in a used sick day. This year’s game is sure to bring us ever closer to feeling like we are actually controlling a football game.

After last weekend’s post EA sports provided us with a ton more information about the upcoming Madden. The changes outlined focused on a major upgrade to the franchise component. This is something that has me excited as the franchises section is by far the most entertaining. The franchise section is great for fans of the draft as it features player scouting and tough draft day decisions. This blog entry outlines the details of the upgrades.

One new features is having the ability to trade future draft picks. The fact that you can trade future draft picks is exciting because this means you can develop more of a long term plan for your team. You can decided if you want to be more like the Patriots or mortgage your future to select a player like Julio Jones. This new feature will surely add another element to the game.

They have also significantly upgraded the scouting portion of the game. It allows you to go through the different phases of preparing for the draft such as the combine and individual workouts. You can now make your draft selections with more information and background than ever before.
