Homer Bailey Injury: Reds Starter Pulled With Shoulder Spasms

Wednesday night, the Cincinnati Reds played nearly 19 full innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. With their bullpen shot, the last thing the Reds needed Thursday was for starter Homer Bailey to have a short outing.

Whoops!

Bailey left game with spasm in right shoulder. Suffered during 4th inning AB.

Bailey batted in the top of the fourth, and actually pitched through the bottom half before being removed. His day ended with 70 pitches and four runs allowed in four frames.

The Reds aren’t saying much, except that Bailey’s going to visit with Dr. Tim Kremchek. Dusty Baker says he isn’t sure how badly Bailey’s hurt, so this could be something super minor, something super major, or something super in between. We’ll surely know more before long.

Through five starts, Bailey owns a 3.00 ERA, with 22 strikeouts and five walks. A healthy Bailey is critical to the Reds’ postseason hopes.
