Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley is in trouble again. On Tuesday, word's out that the league has suspended him for one game, and fined him an undisclosed amount of money.
Milton Bradley Suspended One Game For Making Contact With Umpire
The reason? Bradley apparently made contact with umpire Gerry Davis with the bill of his helmet during an argument last Saturday. Bradley was standing on second base when Miguel Olivo was called out at first despite pretty clearly beating out the throw.
Mariners manager Eric Wedge came out to argue, but after he was finished, Bradley had some choice words as well. Bradley wound up getting ejected, and somewhere in there, he briefly got in Davis’ face and apparently touched him with his helmet before walking away. The league tends to frown on that kind of thing.
Bradley is appealing the suspension, so he won’t serve his penalty just yet, and he may not have to serve one at all, depending on the outcome. And even if the suspension is upheld, it’s only one game. So while Bradley’s in trouble right now, he’s definitely been in worse before.
Update: Bradley has dropped his appeal, and will serve his suspension on Tuesday.
