Star Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista gave everyone a fright when he was removed from Sunday's game. Word came out shortly thereafter that he was suffering from a minor case of neck tightness, which came as a relief, but then Bautista was left out of the Jays' lineup on Tuesday, and now he's set to undergo an MRI.
Jose Bautista Getting MRI For Neck Injury
BlueJays Bautista undergoing MRI on sore neck. Expected to be out for at least a few days but won't know more until results are in.
This still doesn’t appear to be anything major, but it looks like Bautista will miss a little more time than was initially expected, and there’s a possibility the test could reveal something more sinister. A slim possibility, but a possibility nonetheless. You never know!
On the plus side for Bautista, he was just named the American League Player of the Month for April, and he's sitting on a 1.292 OPS that's tops in the AL by 192 points over Miguel Cabrera. The Blue Jays, obviously, will hope to get him back in the lineup as quickly as possible.
