For the Cincinnati Reds, the news just keeps getting better.
Reds’ Johnny Cueto Set For Weekend Return
Wednesday, they knocked off the Astros with three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Thursday, they'll welcome Homer Bailey back to the starting rotation. And three days later, their starting rotation will be complete. MLB.com's Mark Sheldon:
The Reds have decided to scratch a planned final rehab assignment start for pitcher Johnny Cueto and will activate the right-hander from the disabled list to start Sunday at Chicago against the Cubs.
The Reds are exceptionally fortunate to be 15-15, considering their 4.68 team ERA entering Wednesday's action. Cueto's going to take the rotation slot held by shoplifter Mike Leake, who's 3-1 with a 5.77 ERA. Bailey's taking over for Sam LeCure, who's pitched decently but wasn't exactly in the club's plans in February.
With Bailey and Cueto back in action, the next step is to get Edinson Volquez (5.67) and Travis Wood (6.21) straightened out.
