On Friday evening in Louisville, Kentucky, Plum Pretty emerged the winner of the 2011 Kentucky Oaks. Plum Pretty, the 12-horse, managed to hold on for the win despite a furious late charge from St. John’s River (No. 13).
Plum Pretty Is Your 2011 Kentucky Oaks Winner
This is the second consecutive win for Plum Pretty, which started Friday with 5-to-1 odds. At post time, Plum Pretty’s odds were 7-to-1. The three-year-old horse, which won its last race by a full 25 lengths, hails from Peachtree Stables.
Were the race only a few yards longer, St. John’s River may well have taken the Oaks, but simply run out of space. Plum Pretty assumes the title of reigning Kentucky Oaks champion from the 2010 winner, Blind Luck.
