According to celebrity entertainment website TMZ, David Beckham was involved in a car crash on the I-405 near Los Angeles on Friday morning, with the Los Angeles Galaxy and former England star allegedly hitting a car that had broken down in one of the lanes. The driver of the other car had to be taken to the hospital, but Beckham is apparently uninjured.

TMZ have said that there's been no statement from Beckham or his representatives and that the police are not expected to become involved, but one has to imagine that this is still a highly unwanted distraction for the Galaxy, who host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night at 8:00 PST.
Beckham has been a controversial figure in MLS this season, playing eight matches with three assists but racking up yellow cards at an alarming rate. The former England captain has also been highly outspoken about what he perceives as poor refereeing in the league.
