2011 NFL Draft 5th, 6th, 7th Round Immediate Impact Players

The 2011 NFL Draft is over and many of us are hoping the selected players will be able to provide an immediate impact. With free agency on hold, the only hope we have for an immediate improvement are the rookies. Free agency will take place but without knowing the specifics we have no choice but to rely on the draft selections. Below is my list of the top 5 5th, 6th, and 7th round players I expect to have an immediate impact.

1. Quan Sturdivant- LB- Arizona Cardinals

- The Cardinals have more than a few holes along their linebacking corps. Sturdivant has the physical and mental abilities to contribute early in this career. He will be given an opportunity to earn early playing time.

2. Jordan Todman- RB- San Diego Chargers

- Darren Sproles is likely leaving in free agency which gives Todman the inside track at the scat-back roll. Todman has good quickness and is dangerous in space. He also does a good job catching the ball out of the backfield.

3. Jeremy Kerley- WR/KR- New York Jets

- If Brad Smith moves on in free agency then the Jets will be looking for a new kick/punt returner. Kerley has plenty of experience and success as both a punt and kick returner. He also will provide wide receiver depth to a team that might be facing turnover at the position.

4. Virgil Green- TE- Denver Broncos

- Denver lacks a true pass catching tight end and someone that can threaten the seem. Green has the speed, hands, and quickness to provide the Broncos with a threat.

5. Joshua Thomas- CB- Dallas Cowboys

- Dallas’s secondary was an issue last season due to injuries, age, and ineffectiveness. Thomas has the skills and ability to compete for a nickle position early in his career.
