Baltimore Orioles outfielder Luke Scott has been playing through pain lately, and he requested that an MRI be taken of his right shoulder. The results are in, the Baltimore Sun reports:
Luke Scott Injury: Torn Labrum, But No Disabled List
A magnetic resonance imaging taken today on left fielder Luke Scott’s right shoulder revealed a torn labrum, according to Orioles President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail. “It’s something that we have to manage so it’s not anything that necessarily is a [disabled list]-type thing,”
With the injury confirmed by members of the medical community, the question now regards how the team and Scott will handle this. It seems like it's only a throwing issue right now, and the Orioles are willing to live with it if Scott is. MacPhail said that one step the team can take is to put in a defensive replacement -- he specifically mentioned Felix Pie -- a little earlier in the game.
Scott has been hot lately, bringing his season line up to .253/.333/.505.
