Georges St. Pierre Vs. Nick Diaz Official For UFC 137

Surprising everyone and no one at the same, UFC President Dana White took to Twitter today to announce that Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz will face UFC welterweight Georges St. Pierre at UFC 137. According to White, UFC 137 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The announced date is Oct. 29, 2011.

Here is White’s Tweet that was published just moments ago:

U wanted it! U GOT IT!!! GSP vs DIAZ Oct 29th UFC 137 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.less than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Favorite Retweet Reply

At UFC 130 when taking questions from the media, White initially denied the possiblity of St. Pierre facing Diaz. Citing roadblocks and other undisclosed obstacles, White said the reports of the fight being made were "bullshit".

It is not yet known whether one or both championship titles will be at stake for the event. There is also no news as to whether the fight will be on Showtime, pay-per-view or some other distribution format.
