Chicago Fire Sell Gaston Puerari To Club Atlas

Frank Klopas has apparently seen enough of 25-year-old forward Gaston Puerari, selling him to Mexican Primera side Club Atlans. Although Puerari had started the past two matches, Puerari seems to have fallen out of favor with the Fire after a strong start.

He scored a goal, had an assist and twice drew red cards on opposing players during the Fire’s first three matches of the season. Since then, though, he has had just one assist, while never going the full 90 and coming off the bench in four of his past nine appearances.

“Club Atlas was very keen on Gaston and we made the decision to accept the offer based on the best interest of building our club,” Klopas said in a team statement. “This move provides us with additional flexibility to find a player who will help us achieve our goal of making the MLS Cup Playoffs. We wish Gaston nothing but the best with his new club.”
