Carlos Ruiz Reportedly Ready To Leave Philadelphia Union For Puebla FC

If reports out of Mexico are to be believed, Philadelphia Union forward Carlos Ruiz may be heading back to Puebla FC when the summer transfer window opens on July 15. The Brotherly Game, SB Nation's Union blog, translated the report this way:

”Although [Puebla’s] sporting director Jesus Lopez Chargoy would only say that new reinforcements would be revealed at the draft, because he wants to protect his interests from promoters, it is known from a good source that Carlos “El Pescadito” Ruiz will return to play with La Franja (Puebla).”

Ruiz has scored three goals in 10 games, but has also been a lightning rod for criticism among the Union fanbase. The team did not score as many as two goals in a match until their 10th match of the season and Ruiz was largely blamed for the offense’s struggles.

He has missed each of the Union’s last three games and has been with the Guatemala Gold Cup team, which recently secured advancement to the quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over Grenada in which Ruiz scored.
