Devon Still 2012 NFL Draft prospect notes

Devon Still
6’5, 305 pounds | Defensive line | Penn State
First word: Still has good athletic ability and size which gives him potential. He is quick off the ball and knows how to locate the football. His low pad level helps him maintain leverage and gives him a fighting chance to hold at the point of attack. He shows flashes but is inconsistent putting a lot of pressure on himself to have a big season.

There are just to many almost tackles limiting his impact on the game. Still doesn’t appear to play with the explosiveness necessary to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. The biggest concern is his inability to anchor and create a consistent push on the line. A defensive lineman that gets pushed off the line or ends up on the ground will not make plays.

Overall, Still has potential but he needs to play with more explosiveness. He has the physical abilities but appears hesitant resulting in near tackles. For him to be considered a legitimate NFL prospect he needs to really have an impact season.
Bold statement: Still will have a breakout season and come off the board in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Games viewed: Alabama (‘10), Florida (‘10), Ohio State (‘10), Temple (‘10)

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
