The Atlanta Braves’ Nate McLouth, who suffered an oblique injury during the Braves’ interleague game against the Los Angeles Angels on May 22 and has been on the DL since then, has been activated and will play in this afternoon’s game against the Texas Rangers, according to the Braves’ official Twitter feed.
Braves Activate Nate McLouth From DL
McLouth just completed a three-game rehab assignment with the Braves’ Triple-A Gwinnett club, in which he went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two walks. He will play left field and bat seventh this afternoon in Atlanta. Before his injury, McLouth was batting just .238/.332/.341 with only three home runs and 11 RBI in 194 plate appearances for the Braves.
To make room for McLouth on the roster, Joe Mather has been designated for assignment. The 28-year-old Mather hit .213/.272/.307 in 83 plate appearances for the Braves this season, his first with the club, but did have a memorable game for Atlanta against the Angels on May 21 in which he hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning and then a game-winning double in the 12th, going 4-for-6 with four RBI.
