Mark Hughes has resigned his post as manager of Fulham FC after just one year on the job, unsurprisingly leaving the club after refusing to extend his contract. Fulham has accepted his resignation. Mark Hughes Resigns As Manager Of Fulham; Linked To Vacant Aston Villa Job
Hughes guided Fulham to an eighth place finish in the English Premier League this season, despite the fact that his top striker and arguably his team's best player, Bobby Zamora, was injured for an extended period of time. Impressively, the team did not regress at all after the departure of Roy Hodgson, as Clint Dempsey and Brede Hangeland enjoyed the best seasons of their careers.
Obviously, now that he is not under contract with any team, Hughes is able to speak with Aston Villa or any other team about becoming their manager without his potential new employer needing to gain approval to speak to him.
