On Monday night, home plate umpire James Hoye called White Sox hitter Alexei Ramirez out on a ball. With the benefit of instant replay, he appears to have made the wrong call, but that’s of secondary importance. Of primary importance: manager Ozzie Guillen is capable of getting thrown out of a game with greater haste than almost anyone.
VIDEO: Ozzie Guillen Ejected, Kicks Catcher’s Mask On Way Out

↵Ozzie Guillen was thrown out seven seconds after the play he was protesting, and kicked the mask of Cubs catcher Geovany Soto for good measure. Soto appears amused in the video, which is a relief, because I was worried that “don’t kick a catcher’s mask” was part of the weird unspoken baseball etiquette that includes such rules as “don’t walk across an opposing pitcher’s mound” and “don’t do steroids so often that it’s really obvious.”
