Ike Davis Injury: Surgery A Possibility For Mets 1B
That feels like ages ago. After the injury, Davis continued experiencing soreness. He was limited in his rehabilitation workouts. He was placed in a boot for three weeks at the end of May after an MRI revealed little progress. And a Wednesday checkup apparently didn’t go so hot. Joel Sherman:
Heard #Mets didn't get good report on Davis ankle, word is will see how tolerate pain in baseball activity and, if can't, shut down again
So Davis remains out of action indefinitely. Even if everything goes well from here, he’s still several weeks away from rejoining the Mets. And if everything doesn’t go well, we might see him again in 2011.
Daniel Murphy has held the regular job at first base since Davis got hurt, and it looks like he’ll hang on to it for the foreseeable future. He hasn’t been bad, but he hasn’t been Ike Davis, and the Mets will suffer for however long they’re without their intended first baseman.
