The North Carolina Tar Heels are trying their best to overcome Vanderbilt’s lead in this 2011 College World Series game, but they still trail, 5-1, through six innings. In the top of the fifth inning, the Tar Heels finally made Taylor Hill work his way out of an inning. Two singles and a walk gave Ben Bunting an at-bat with the bases loaded. Bunting hit into an RBI ground out. Colin Moran, ACC Freshman of the Year, was intentionally walked to load the bases again, but to no avail for North Carolina. Jacob Stallings, who doubled in both of his previous at-bats, struck out to end the inning.

Starter Greg Holt left after 2.2 innings and then saw Tate Parrish finish the third. Chris Munnelly was brought in to start the fourth, but after back-to-back singles he left the game with two left-handed hitters coming up. R.C. Orlan settled things down and kept Vandy off the board.
