Nate Marquardt ‘No Longer With UFC’ After Failing Medicals, Dana White Says

A day before the UFC's Nate Marquardt was originally slated to fight Rick Story in Pittsburgh at UFC on Versus 4, president and CEO Dana White has announced that after failing medical tests, he will no longer fight. Shockingly, White also stated that Marquardt is out of the UFC altogether. White made the announcement through a video posted to Twitter; the transcript is as follows:

“So I’m here at the weigh-ins. I’m sure you’ve heard that Nate Marquardt is out, it’s true. He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight, and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.”

White has yet to elaborate, but the UFC has wasted no time in removing the Marquardt-Story fight from the promotional content of its website. To rewind briefly, the 32-year-old Marquardt holds a career 31-10-2 record. In his most recent fight, which came in March during UFC 128, he beat Dan Miller by unanimous decision.
