After working with this year’s No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton and Pittsburgh Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback coach George Whitfield has a new student.
Terrelle Pryor to work with QB tutor George Whitfield
Whitfield will be employed by former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, the Canton Repository reports. Pryor is preparing for the NFL Supplemental Draft, which should take place in July.
Whitfield told the Repository that quarterback is the position for Pryor, not wide receiver or tight end like some are projecting
“I almost jumped off the couch when I heard that,” he told the Repository. “They put in all their chips against him, and made a definitive statement about a guy who is 31-4 at one of the more premier college programs in America.”
With Pryor, Whitfield has the uphill task of reshaping his mechanics, speeding up his release and becoming more comfortable in the pocket. All of those should help Pryor’s inconsistent accuracy.
