In the top of the fifth inning at Wrigley Field today, Matt Garza threw a couple of low strikes to Chris Iannetta. Both were called balls.
Bob Brenly, Anti-Luddite
↵Brenly: “That forces Matt Garza to come right down the middle of the plate with a fastball … He’s thrown three pitches in the strike zone and the count is 2-and-1. You wonder why I wanna go to an automated strike zone.”
↵Postscript: Brenly just described Brian Runge as a “guess umpire.”
