Good news for the Atlanta Braves and all of their fans: starting pitcher Tommy Hanson has been activated from the disabled list on Tuesday, and will start against the Mariners.
Tommy Hanson Activated From DL By Braves
Hanson had been placed on the DL in the middle of the month with inflammation in his shoulder. However, further examination revealed no structural damage, and a few throwing sessions went off without a hitch. Now he is returning to the rotation after missing only the minimum amount of time.
Jairo Asencio has been optioned to triple-A Gwinnett to make roster room. Hanson returns to a 2.48 ERA posted over 14 starts, with a K/BB of 3.0. With Hanson back and feeling healthy, and Brandon Beachy back and feeling healthy, the Braves are in position to mount a serious charge towards the top of the standings.
