Roger Clemens Denied Appeal Hearing By Supreme Court

It appears Roger Clemens' lawsuit against his former trainer, Brian McNamee, is finally dead. Clemens accused McNamee of lying about saying he injected the former star pitcher with steroids and human growth hormone. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear Clemens' defamation suit on Tuesday, meaning the case has run out of places to be heard.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had previously thrown out the case, saying a Texas federal court did not have jurisdiction over the case because McNamee had made his accusatory statements in New York. McNamee had said he gave Clemens performance-enhancing drugs during the pitcher’s seven-time Cy Young award-winning career.

Clemens is currently facing criminal prosecution for allegedly lying about not using drugs during his Congressional testimony. Clemens has continued to maintain that he never used drugs.

McNamee has said that he injected Clemens in New York while both were with the New York Yankees and repeated those claims during an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter.
