Purdue’s Mackey Arena is currently undergoing a $99.5 million overhaul. That didn’t initially include replacing the basketball court, known as Keady Court, but then Mother Nature intervened. Last month, storms allowed water into an area where construction was already under way, damaging Keady Court. Now, Purdue will go about adding the replacement of the court to their in-progress renovations.
Purdue To Replace Rain-Damaged Keady Court Before Upcoming Basketball Season
Purdue considered repairing the floor but determined that it needed to be replaced after the May 25 and 26 storms, Schott said. He said the floor hasn’t been replaced since the late 1990s.
The replacement also gives Purdue a chance to start from scratch and add the brand new Big Ten logo.
Mackey Arena is scheduled for “re-dedication” for Nov. 11, when the men’s basketball team plays Northern Illinois. The court is expected to be ready by October in time for basketball practice.
