Lionel Messi OK After Youth Tries To Punch Him

Lionel Messi had a bit of a surprise waiting for him when he went to sign autographs in his home town of Rosario in Argentina on Thursday. According to an eyewitness, as the Barcelona talisman was signing for crowds of adoring kids, one of them tried to punch him!

There was a crush of people waiting outside. There were kids, reporters, photographers waiting ... and one of the kids tried to punch him. I don’t know if he pulled it off. He went running afterward.

The school-age alleged assailant did no damage, however, which is surprising considering the fact he was probably at least a foot taller than the striker. Messi himself insists that he didn’t even get hit and that’s he’s perfectly ok, but I can’t imagine that the day was that much fun for him. Some vacation it’s turned out to be, although as the world’s best footballer I can’t imagine he ever gets a real holiday.

Messi will next take the field for Argentina in the Copa America starting in July.
