According to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the main event at UFC on Versus 4 has been shaken up. Due to injury, headliner Anthony Johnson is out of his fight with Nate Marquardt. Replacing him will be fast-rising Rick Story, who just competed at UFC 130 on May 28th winning a unanimous decision against Thiago Alves.
UFC On Versus 4 Fight Card: Rick Story Replaces Anthony Johnson Against Nate Marquardt
There is no word yet on the nature of Johnson’s injury. Bloody Elbow details the history of Johnson’s injuries here in terms of pulling out of fights.
UFC on Versus 4 takes place June 26th at the Consol Energy Center on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Given the last week is of preparation before the fight is largely devoted to travel, media and resting the body, Story has approximately three weeks to train for this fight. While he is likely in fighting shape and seemingly uninjured after his UFC 130 bout, it’s not clear what toll this will take on Story fighting against top competition in such close proximity.
The UFC tweeted the news last night:
Big change to Pittsburgh card - Anthony Johnson injured, @NathanMarquardt will now face @Rick_Story in the main event!
