Giants GM Expects Brandon Jacobs To Return In 2011

Following the end of the 2010 season, many folks were thinking New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs wouldn't be returning to the team despite finishing the year with over five yards per carry, a very healthy numbers. The biggest reason for people wondering about his return is his salary in 2011 -- $4.66 million. That's hardly backup running back money and it doesn't sound like Jacobs would consider a pay cut.

Giants GM Jerry Reese is one that isn’t buying all this talk about Jacobs leaving and, since he’s the one who actually makes that decision you should listen to what he says.

"You can't read a lot into what Brandon is saying sometimes. We do expect Brandon to be part of the football team this fall. He is under contract. Brandon does talk a lot and like I said, sometimes you got to tune some of that stuff out that he is talking about."

Jacobs’ teammate, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, is also expected to return to New York. That’s the top two backs from the sixth best rushing attack in the league so this bodes well for the Giants’ chances of rushing the ball well.
