Now-former Barcelona B manager Luis Enrique is on his way to Roma to take over the vacancy left by Claudio Raneiri and Vincenzo Montella, according to several reports and Enrique himself. The new coach is apparently only some technicalities away from joining up with the team, and he’s also pretty excited about the project:
Luis Enrique To Become Roma Manager
There is a full agreement with the club, the only thing that is missing is the signature. I’ll be in Rome in the next few days.
I practice attacking football, a spectacular brand designed to entertain and attract people to the stadium. People still don’t know me in Italy, but I’ll erase the doubts and at the end of the season we will look at the facts.
Having someone come over from Barcelona is a surefire way to get people excited, and it sounds as though Enrique might be bringing some of the Barca B team with him. It’ll be interesting to see how effectively he imposes his tactical beliefs upon Roma’s veteran players - he’s only 41, and this is his first ‘real’ managerial job - but considering how effective the last manager of Barcelona B was in their next role, one would imagine that Enrique will get the benefit of the doubt from the older players and the fans.
