Napoli centre back Hugo Campagnaro is in hospital after a deadly car crash in Argentina early on Thursday morning in Cordoba province. Campagnaro was apparently driving near the town of Coronel Baigorria in the early morning when his car was struck head-on on by a Volkswagon Polo travelling in the opposite direction, the impact killing the three people in the other car. Campagnaro's passenger was also injured in the crash.
Napoli’s Hugo Campagnaro Hospitalized After Deadly Car Crash
Translations from Italian have Campagnaro in hospital with serious injuries but ‘out of danger’, which would would imagine means that they are not life-threatening. Non-life-threatening, however, is not the same thing as non-career-threatening, so nobody seems to know if and when Campagnaro will be able to return to the field (or if he’ll even want to).
Much is still unclear about the incident, including the extent of his injuries, a confirmation of the identities of those killed and an accurate account of what happened. Everything, however, point to this being a terrible incident for Campagnaro, Napoli and, most importantly, the families of those killed in the crash. We’ll have more on this story here as information comes out.
