Men’s semifinals play begins Friday, Day 11 of Wimbledon 2011 at the All England Club, with tournament action beginning at 7 a.m. EDT. All semifinal matches will be played on Centre Court, so the rain delays plaguing this year’s tournament shouldn’t be an issue. Today’s TV schedule (view the full fortnight’s schedule here):
Friday’s Wimbledon Schedule And TV Coverage
• 7 a.m. - Noon: ESPN2
• Noon - 5 p.m.: NBC
If Thursday’s boneheaded scheduling plan holds up, what this means for American viewers is this: You’ll see the first scheduled semis match live on ESPN2, while the second airs on tape delay on NBC. That would be, of course, the match featuring the World No. 1 versus the World No. 4, who also happens to be a hometown favorite. (No, go on and invent some new strings of curse words. I’ll wait.) Some 2011 Wimbledon matches can also be viewed for free online on ESPN3, and live scores can be found throughout the day on the tournament’s official website.
Scheduled Day 11 singles matches on Centre Court:
• No. 2 Novak Djokovic (Serbia) vs. No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France)
• No. 1 Rafael Nadal (Spain) vs. No. 4 Andy Murray (UK)
In American news, the top-ranked men’s doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan will be making their sixth appearance in the Championships semifinals this afternoon, playing the sixth-ranked Franco-Serbian duo of Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic on Court No. 1.
