The San Francisco 49ers, like many other teams, have been conducting player-only practices during the NFL lockout. They've been dubbed "Camp Alex" referring to QB Alex Smith, who has spear-headed the sessions. WR Michael Crabtree participated in the initial practices but left with some sort of injury.
Michael Crabtree’s Injury Came During 49ers Workouts
At the time, he cited soreness from his cleats as the injury. His teammate, TE Vernon Davis, offers up some more detailon the foot injury.
Tight end Vernon Davis, in Crabtree's absence, answered the question saying the foot injury he sustained June 9 in Camp Alex #1 is far more than just a case of a sore foot brought on by the pinch of new cleats. However Davis said he should be ready should training camp start on time.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Crabtree was “limited” during practice and only went out for one warm-up pass for throwing some balls to the receivers.
We’re not sure of anymore details of his foot injury -- he didn’t speak after the 49ers practice on Thursday -- but, if Davis is correct, then he should be good to go for training camp, which is scheduled to start in roughly a month.
