Philadelphia Flyers Sign Maxime Talbot To Five-Year Deal

Maxime Talbot has signed a five-year, $9 million contract to move across state to join the Philadelphia Flyers. Talbot had spent his entire six-year NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but said he made the move because the Flyers offered him the best opportunity. He was the second former Penguin to join the Flyers on Friday, the first day of NHL free agency.

"It's going to be tough on us," Talbot told TSN when asked how the Pittsburgh fans might react when they first see he and Jaromir Jagr in Flyers uniforms. "It was tough for me to leave in the first place, as my heart has always been with the Pittsburgh Penguins. But at the same time, it's a new challenge for me in Philly. It's going to be real interesting. "

Talbot, a center, registered 21 points while appearing in all 82 of the Penguins’ games last year. The Penguins registered 106 points, but bowed out of the playoffs in the first round.
