Anthony Oden Dismissed By Arkansas After DWI Stop

Arkansas offensive tackle Anthony Oden, brother of NBA star Greg, was dismissed by the Razorbacks less just shy of a week after he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Other offenses in the one-man moving violation spree included possession of a controlled substance, driving left of the center line, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving without proof of ownership, driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license, and driving without a driver’s license.

It was also Oden’s second such incident in a year -- the first one cost him a game -- and apparently one too many for Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino. The official reason is the dreaded “violation of team rules,” though it would seem pretty clear what those team rules were. The move is also perfectly timed to allow quite as many questions over the fate of Oden, who had a chance at starting, before SEC Media Days begins on Wednesday.
