- We're in the top of the ninth with the NL ahead 5-1, and Joel Hanrahan is on to pitch in place of Heath Bell. One would've expected Bruce Bochy to go to Brian Wilson here, but it isn't a save situation, so he's using a closer in place of a closer instead of a closer.
- After Hanrahan strikes out the first dude, the second dude hits a grounder to short, and Starlin Castro throws the ball away. Starlin Castro isn't ready for his time on the field of the All-Star Game to come to a close. You can't blame him for being selfish, he is four.
- After the error, the next dude hits a single into right. The right-fielder comes up throwing and over-throws the cutoff man, and then Hanrahan, who is covering behind home plate, overthrows the catcher. All-Stars!
- Now facing a save situation, Bochy does indeed call on Brian Wilson to slam the door. Wilson jogs in from the bullpen, and just when he has an opportunity to do something quirky by the mound, FOX goes to commercial.
- Current pitcher of record: Tyler Clippard. All-Stars!
- Wilson gets Paul Konerko to ground to Castro, who throws to first properly this time to end the game. Castro doesn't want to hang around anymore. Castro is now tired and cranky. You can't blame him, he is one.
- Clippard's outing, by the way: one batter faced, one single, with an outfield assist at home plate. That might literally be the worst win in baseball history.
- The unused:
Russell Martin
Josh Beckett (hurt)
Aaron Crow (ill)
Ricky Romero
Jose Valverde
Tim Lincecum
Kevin Correia
