Thursday brought news that the Diamondbacks were promoting masher Brandon Allen from triple-A. Unfortunately an addition requires a subtraction, so as a consequence, Arizona is designating Wily Mo Pena for assignment. That is the Wily Mo Pena of the .196/.196/.522 batting line. With five homers, zero walks, and 19 strikeouts, Pena remains completely and utterly himself, and we love him to pieces for it. With luck this was not his final opportunity.
