Sugar Shane Mosley Loses Championship Belts To Wife In Divorce

There’s a lot of ways a boxing champion can lose his title belts. He can get beat in a match, he can be stripped by a governing body, he could retire...

Or he could get divorced, in which case his wife gets them.

That’s the case for Sugar Shane Mosley, according to TMZ.

The settlement provides that ex-wife Jin “shall maintain custody and control of three championship belts for each of the respective parties’ three minor children.” Each of the kids get a belt when they turn 18.

Now, these aren’t belts that Mosley holds officially but the ornamental ones that he got to keep. Mosley lost his Welterweight Titles to Manny Pacquiao.

In the settlement, Mosley’s ex also gets half of Shane’s cut of profits from videotapes and DVDs of his big fights. She does not, however, get a piece of the $3M purse from the Pacquiao fight, which occurred after the settlement was reached.

Mosley is 46-7-1 on his career, but has lost three of his last six fights. Four if you count the divorce.
