Leslie McDonald Injury A Torn ACL, Knocking UNC Guard Out Indefinitely

UNC guard Leslie McDonald has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, according to The Daily Tar Heel, UNC's campus newspaper.

McDonald will be a junior this season and was expected to have a significant role after averaging seven points a game in his sophomore season, hitting 51 three-pointers.

McDonald reportedly suffered the injury during a summer league basketball game in Durham, N.C., which gives Tar Heel fans yet another reason to hate Duke. As if they needed one.

"I just hate this for Leslie and his family," Coach Roy Williams said in a press release. "He's worked so hard this off-season and he told me he was really playing well. We'll certainly support him as he works to get back on the floor, but we will miss his play on both ends of the court."

Although the injury is devastating to McDonald and his supporters, UNC will still likely have a dominant season in the ACC after returning all five starters from an Elite Eight squad, plus adding five-star freshman James McAdoo.
