In a profile by Jeffri Chadiha in ESPN the magazine, former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is taken to task leading up to the supplemental draft.
Terrelle Pryor ripped leading up to supplemental draft
One team executive told Chadiha that Pryor should be a mid-round pick who he’d move to tight end in a couple years. On the scale of things, that wouldn’t be so bad.
An AFC quarterbacks had far worse things to say about Pryor.
“I wouldn’t want to pick him,” the coach said. “You won’t get to spend a whole spring with him, and I want a palyer I’ve had a chance to sit down with. And there are legitimate concerns about a guy who’s driving eight cars around a college campus.”
Remember, that’s an NFL coach saying that. Not me, not another draft analyst, not even a college coach. Pryor may just be connected with copious cars and tattoos, but bad is bad.
The coach also had criticism about Pryor on the field.
“He can make some beautiful throws, and then he’ll have some plays when the ball literally dies after it leaves his hand. You’ll see him struggle to hit wide-open receivers then he’ll complete pass into a really tight window.”
That inconsistency is what could make teams hesitant on picking Pryor. Chadiha points out the Browns and Patriots as being possible destinations because they have multiple picks. He also points out my expected suitor for Pryor, the Oakland Raiders.
The supplemental draft will take place after the new collective bargaining agreement is in place.
