In the last start from St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse, the right-hander gave up 10 hits in 5-2/3 innings, walking three. At the end of May, his ERA was 2.13, he was 7-2, and Dave Duncan was again looking like some sort of mad genius. Since June started, though, Lohse has allowed fewer than four runs in just two out of his eight starts, with the Cardinals winning just two of those games, and Lohse putting up a 5.70 ERA in that time.
Kyle Lohse Injury: Cardinals Pitcher Out With Finger Injury
While the obvious explanation is that Kyle Lohse is Kyle Lohse, and the gravity of Kyle Loshe pulled Kyle Lohse back to orbit, where he will continue to do Kyle Lohse things now, there might be another explanation. From Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
Cardinals starting pitcher Kyle Lohse left the team Thursday morning to return to St. Louis and have a finger on his pitching hand examined by the team’s physician.Manager Tony La Russa called it “a finger issue,” but added that he wasn’t sure of the details beyond that.
La Russa added the he still expects Lohse to make his scheduled start on Sunday, but this could send the Cardinals pitcher to the DL, and it could also partially explain his recent struggles.
