Russell Shepard To Miss SEC Media Days, Prompting Suspension Rumor

LSU WR Russell Shepard, who was originally scheduled to be one of three Tigers represent the team at SEC Media Day, will now miss the event. The official announcement says that he will miss the event due to "personal reasons."

This comes on the heels of rumors that Shepard may be suspended from the team for undisclosed reasons.

LSU media relations director Michael Bonnette refuted the rumors.

“Reports that Russell Shepard has been suspended are incorrect. He will miss Media Day for personal reasons.”

According to SportsNOLA, the junior may also miss the season opener against Oregon if he is indeed suspended.

Shepard played in all 13 games for LSU last season, ranking second on team with 33 catches for 254 yards as well as 226 rushing yards on 32 carries with three total touchdowns.

Senior offensive lineman T-Bob Hebert will take Shepard's place at SEC Media Day.
