There’s more good news on the “It Gets Better” front: the Philadelphia Phillies have announced that they’ll be the seventh Major League Baseball team to produce a video for the “It Gets Better” campaign, a series of videos meant to encourage kids who are abused and bullied because they’re LGBT, or perceived to be LGBT.
Philadelphia Phillies To Become Latest MLB Team To Produce ‘It Gets Better’ Video
↵Perhaps I’m being naive, but... well, of course, biases and bigotry will always be around for as long as there is humanity (at least, for as far as I can see). I look at the videos that have been produced, though, and I see a campaign that’s far more compelling, convincing, and effective than, I don’t know, the “READ” posters that showed Bo Jackson halfway through a Dickens novel, or Tony Gonzalez tending to trays of baked macaroni for the United Way.
↵Those are important causes, and so is this, but for one reason or another I’m perceiving a tone of genuine expression, of really, really wanting things to ease up for these kids, and that is a terrific thing to see.
