ACC media outlets have tabbed Florida State as the preseason favorite for 2011, picking the ‘Noles to win their first conference football championship since 2005. (Coincidentally, the last time media picked the Seminoles as their preseason favorite was also in 2005.) FSU were naturally also predicted to win the Atlantic Division in the preseason poll conducted during this week’s ACC Football Kickoff.

The Seminoles are heavy favorites, receiving 50 of 65 votes to win the ACCCG, while picking up 65 of 71 first-place votes to win the Atlantic. They are expected to meet the Virginia Tech Hokies in the championship game. The Hokies were picked as the overwhelming favorite to win the Coastal Division, picking up 66 of 71 first-place votes and earning 18 championship votes.
Boston College's Montel Harris was the preseason pick as Player of the Year, picking up 26 votes. He beat out Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel, who was picked by 14 media members. Harris has a chance to break the 33-year-old ACC career rushing record, needing 1,003 yards to top Ted Brown's career total of 4,602 yards.
