Former Aston Villa vice-captain Nigel Reo-Coker, released on a free transfer at the end of last season, has made his way north to Bolton. The midfielder has agreed personal terms with Owen Coyle's side after spending two months without a club, and despite links with exotic destinations such as SSC Napoli ends up more or less where he started - as midfield depth for a mid-table Premier League side.
Nigel Reo-Coker Joins Bolton Wanderers On Free Transfer
It’s unclear just what the personal terms involve, but one has to imagine that Reo-Coker will have had to take a major paycut from the wages he enjoyed at Villa. He’s a perfectly adequate defensive midfielder in the league - admittedly one with severe limitations going forwards - but Bolton primarily need him to provide squad depth after being hit with an injury crisis to the centre at the end of last season. It’s difficult to see Reo-Coker starting for the Trotters on a regular basis, but stranger things have happened.
