Mysterious Ways

The Houston Astros lost Monday night to the Cardinals in St. Louis. This isn't really news, as Houston has the worst record in the majors and is 5-20 since June 22. What's news is that some of the Astros misplayed balls in the outfield and blamed new sod that had to be put in after a U2 concert at Busch Stadium:

Or as Hunter Pence put it: “I didn’t expect it to be tough until I fell down.”

Having rock concerts at baseball stadiums during the summer is becoming a trend; the Cardinals had eight days to re-sod after U2's show. But Paul McCartney played Comerica Park in Detroit on Sunday and the Tigers will be home Thursday to play the Angels, giving them only three days to re-sod; a similar three-day gap will face the Cubs at Wrigley Field after McCartney plays there on July 31 and Aug. 1.

So there may be more falling down to come.
