In February, the Philadelphia Eagles placed a transition tag on kicker David Akers. Monday night, they rescinded that tag, making Akers a free agent and, one would assume, ending his time in Philadelphia.

The 36-year-old Akers was on his way to becoming an NFL journeyman before signing with the Eagles in 1999. He would go on to set the franchise record for points, field goals, extra points, games played in the regular season and in the playoffs.
Only Morten Andersen (seven) and Jan Stenerud (six) have made more Pro Bowls and Akers has been to two consecutive ones. Akers was named to the All-Decade Team for the 2000's.
Coming off a season in which he set a career high with 23 touchbacks, Akers ends what was the longest tenure of any athlete in Philadephia (12 seasons).
