South Carolina quarterbacks coach G. A. Mangus was arrested in Greenville, South Carolina early Tuesday morning. He faces charges of “nuisance conduct.” News of this sort usually travels fastest by rival message boards, and Clemson’s TigerNet forums appear to have been first on the scene. The Greenville County Detention Center’s inmate search site is overwhelmed by traffic, but several mugshots of Mangus have surfaced.
South Carolina Quarterbacks Coach Arrested On Nuisance Charges
SB Nation’s Spencer Hall confirmed with county officials that Mangus was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center at 1:59 a.m. Tuesday morning. South Carolina beat writer Travis Haney reminds us there’s a coaching clinic going on in Greenville, which explains Mangus’ location. WSPA cites public urination as the reason for arrest.
Mangus was a University of Florida quarterback under Steve Spurrier in the early ‘90s, and according to his official school bio, enjoyed great success as a D-III coach before making the leap to the big leagues. He logged three years at Middle Tennessee State as Rick Stockstill’s offensive coordinator before joining Spurrier’s Gamecocks staff in 2009.
