New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia, who entered his Tuesday-night start against the Mariners with an MLB-leading 14 wins, hasn't allowed a Seattle baserunner through 5-1/3 innings at Yankee Stadium.

Through five frames, Sabathia had struck out 10 Mariners already, including six straight in the fourth and fifth frames.Sabathia’s career high in strikeouts is just 13 (nearly four years ago against the Royals).
Meanwhile, the Yankees built a 3-0 lead on Curtis Granderson's solo homer in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, Sabathia struck out Mike Carp swinging to make it seven straight punch-outs before heavy rains halted play at 8:31 p.m. The storm was expected to pass fairly soon; if not, Sabathia's further participation would obviously be in question.
Sabathia’s in the middle of his finest season as a Yankee, with his ERA down to 2.53, pending further action this evening.
