NFL Free Agency 2011: LB Paul Posluszny Signs Six-Year Deal With Jaguars

After a cryptic but ultimately accurate tweet from Jay Glazer, it's looking pretty official. Paul Posluszny, the middle linebacker who spent the first four years of his career with the Buffalo Bills, has signed a six-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars to play ILB in their 4-3 defense, according to a report by NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

The Jaguars are getting a rock in the middle of the field. "Poz" has had at least 110 tackles the past three years, including a career high 151 last season to go along with two sacks and four batted balls. He had three interceptions in 2009, as well.

The product of Linebacker U, Penn State, was a second-round draft pick of the Bills in 2007, but played in only three games his rookie season because of a broken left forearm, which landed him on injured reserve. He’s missed six games the past two seasons, but when he’s healthy he’s one of the most consistently productive inside linebackers.

La Canfora reported that it was “very difficult” for Poz to leave Buffalo, but the incentive of playing in a 4-3, where he can potentially lead the league in tackles, plus a six-year contract was too much to pass up. I doubt he’ll be regretting that move come October when there are two feet of snow on the ground on the shores of Lake Erie and he’s still wearing shorts in Jacksonville.
